I am a little bit behind in the world of blogging, so as a result this post is a little of everything from the past week or so! Last week's letter of the week was R. We also finished reading the book My Father's Dragon, which is a great book that we both highly recommend! And in history Faith has been learning all about the Vikings. And after learning about their lifestyle, she didn't think that she would want to go back in time to be a Viking!
This week the letter of study is A. Faith found some great pictures for her letter A page, including an alarm clock, apple, almond, alligator, and Arizona Cardinal wide receiver! In math she is starting to do some simple addition and telling time on a clock. Both things are very fun and exciting for our little learner! We also read about St. Patrick, for whom the holiday is named, in history, which was just fascinating! I never knew anything about him, and now have a new appreciation for the day honoring him!
One of the most enjoyable parts of each school day is reading. Since we just finished a book, today we began our next book, which is The Hundred Dresses. We can already tell we are going to enjoy it just a chapter into it! What I love is that not only is it an interesting, well written story, but it also has great life lessons to learn about how to treat others.
Faith is not the only one learning - she taught Shane how to play Candyland! It was all fun and games, until Shane won! And that was that!
A funny picture of Shane...he insisted on wearing his helmet in the stroller! I started calling him Mr. Safety, which he thought was hilarious!
This picture is from a week ago. Since it was such a nice evening, Steve made a fire in our backyard fire pit. We even had a few marshmallows to roast, making that the highlight for the kids! For Steve and I, the time together as a family is just so enjoyable!
Finally, we headed to Sears on Saturday to buy a new vacuum as ours broke. The kids interest in shopping for a new vacuum was about zero, so thankfully there were some Christmas decorations nearby that they could look at with Steve while I studied the vacuums! Shane insisted that he have his picture taken with the abominable snowman!! I think he may have even asked me to put it on his Christmas list!
We have some big things coming up in the next few days...field trips and a parents night at Awana, so there are sure to be more pictures to come!
